I`m trying to create a schema card for myself

I`m trying to create a schema card for myself when someone searches my name on Google. Does anyone have experience with this? I`ve attached an example. So far, I`ve purchased a domain name for my name https://www.philiprinaldi.com and I have created the page using schema markup for "Person". Is there another thing I should be focusing on or is this totally out of my control? I was thinking that I should start backlinking efforts to get some domain authority.

  • Michael Romano: I don`t think you can buy or even optimize for that. Google has to annoint you with the privilege.
  • Philip Rinaldi: Yeah I`ve seen it before for some SEO`s that aren`t very popular so I was thinking there must be a way to optimize for it. Unfortunately, I can`t remember who I saw it for. Now I`m just thinking how to convince Google to annoynt someone? Do we need followers, backlinks, etc? There has to be a metric that convinces Google that you`re worthy...
  • Michael Romano: Philip Rinaldi If you find a way to do it, let me know. You`d make millions selling profile cards like that. I want one! Lol.
  • Bill Hartzer: Philip Rinaldi you cant optimize to get a KG entry and be considered an entity.
  • Bill Hartzer: Michael Romano it’s not a profile card. That’s the Knowledge Graph, more sites than google uses the KG.
  • Michael Martinez: You`ll have to earn true brand recognition in Google`s entity systems. But starting with a domain name is a good idea. Not necessary but a good idea.
  • Philip Rinaldi: Do you have any opinion on how we can earn more recognition?
  • Michael Martinez: Philip Rinaldi In all seriousness, find a cure for Covid-19. That`ll about do it, as the Goblin-king said.

I once told a billionaire`s people - who were frustrated with the pace of success in our results for his reputation management campaign - to have their client give $1 million to charity.

They replied with, "Actually, something like that is about to happen."

"Good, " I replied. "Let me decide how to publicize it."

    He became an instant hero.

This also works for anyone who wants to become "an entity" in Google`s Knowledge Base.

Make big news - they suddenly know who you are.
  • Joshua McAdams: Michael, what Goblin-king?
  • Michael Martinez: Joshua McAdams From the first Hobbit movie.
  • Bill Hartzer: Michael ha ha well not necessarily. I have a KG entry and got my entry not because of brand recognition. I got it another way.
  • Michael Martinez: Bill Hartzer It works out the same way, in my opinion. I have multiple KG entries in Google`s SERPs but no Wikipedia articles or anything else like that.

It might be better to speak of "entity recognition" than "brand recognition", though. I`ll try to remember that in the future.
  • Ryan Jones: Yup. You can’t force it. The google ML algorithm needs to see enough links and mentions of you in authoritative places to realize you’re a thing.
  • Bill Hartzer: Ryan well you can kind of force it... but really doesn’t have much to do with links.
  • E Dieter Martin: A good start is having a Wikipedia entry for yourself. If you don`t qualify for a Wikipedia entry, you are in trouble.
  • Bill Hartzer: E Dieter Martin it’s not just wikipedia. I don’t qualify for a Wikipedia entry but have a KG entry. There are a lot of sites that are knowledge graph data sources.
  • Joe Kizlauskas: need to get yourself in wikidata - very hard to do but can be done if you know how

if you do manage to get in, use it on properties you own in schema and bish bash bosh you`re in
  • Bill Hartzer: Joe Kizlauskas it’s not just wiki data. Lots of sites are KG sources.

Schema can help but won’t get you a KG entry.
  • Joe Kizlauskas: Bill Hartzer thanks for the info. There are other steps for sure just as a place to start in answer to the question.
  • Mau Esmar: A guy called Pete Darmos gave $100 notes to people lining up for unemployment payments in Australia last week, he was an instant hero for maybe 2-3 days. Got plenty of media coverage. You may want to check if he got a google profile card. I do not think so.

Tip: Check the top 20 most popular youtubers in your country and see if they have profile cards. Mayb youtube account popularity brings signs to Google to create a profile card. maybe
  • Bill Hartzer: Mau Esmar it’s not a google profile card. It’s a knowledge graph entry. Other search engines like Bing also use the KG.
  • Suresh K: If you have 3rd party media citations from authority sources you can create a Wiki page. Neil Patel has lots of them automatically created by people. If you become famous like him, you too will have a page like that :-)
  • Bill Hartzer: Suresh K trust me, you don’t have to be famous to be in the knowledge graph and be considered an entity.

I’m not famous but I have a KG entry.
  • Suresh K: Bill Hartzer now you will become famous :-)
  • Bill Hartzer: That’s not a schema card. It’s the knowledge graph. You have to get yourself into the knowledge graph.

First you need convince one of the sits that provide data to the KG that you are an entity.
  • Richard Hearne: You need to get yourself recognized as an entity in Google`s Knowledge Graph. Probably the quickest way to achieve this is to get a Wikipedia page, but that is not practical for most. This is almost certainly also going to be driven by both links and citations to you as an entity.
  • David Gizzarelli: Once you have a website, you can claim and manage your google knowledge box
  • David Gizzarelli: My knowledge box seems to spawn from my IMDB page.
  • Loren Baker: IMDB and Amazon author pages are a kickstart, as is Wikipedia.
  • Loren Baker: I’m also kind of glad that Google is recognizing Neil as being English, most people do not know that.
  • Philip Rinaldi: Thank you! I`m going to keep note of everything I do to see if I can get recognized in the knowledge graph
