Hi, I have just setup a new website and I`m new in this seo thing. I read that writing article content and backlink to website will help in ranking. But also duplicate content in different website is no good.

  • Michael Martinez: Ignore all the advice you read online about building links by submitting articles to other sites. While some people do this there are risks involved and until you are ready to make an informed decision that is just a bad idea for you.

Concentrate on creating the kind of Website you would enjoy visiting many times over. Create the content that you would find useful.

Don`t take short cuts. There are no short cuts to success and, frankly, as the pandemic recession grows deeper many more people will be turning to the Internet for an income.

Every fast strategy and spammy trick you turn to will ultimately set you back, costing you time and money. Learn to do this right the first time around.
  • James Chin: Michael Martinez Thanks for your advice. So it would the best not to backlink the article from sites like ezinearticle. My developer done a share to FB and twitter button on my article page.

So basically it`s best to write the content in my website "article" page and share them to my FB page and twitter account for some backlink?
  • Michael Martinez: James Chin Sharing to social media is okay. Social media sites` links use the "nofollow" attribute or are redirected through intermediate subdomains or folders that are blocked to search engines. They aren`t considered to be manipulative links.

You should read the search engine guidelines published by Bing and Google and learn what they consider to be acceptable practices.

While many people violate those guidelines, some do it unwittingly, some do it without understanding the potential consequences, and some do it because they are willing to take the risk and live with the consequences.

  • James Chin: Michael Martinez I`d rather do it safe. Becos the `keyword` I`m going for is basically the name of new property launch by real estate developer. So my competitor is small. Property developer normally create the website upon launching of new property and not much update from time to time.

Btw, u mention nofollow attributes. Does it means even if I share to social media, its not helping my ranking?
  • Michael Martinez: James Chin Some people believe it can help your rankings.

Since you`re new to all this, my opinion is that you should not worry about how to improve your rankings through links.

Share your content where it makes sense to share it.

Talk about your content where it make sense to talk about it.

There are a lot of things you can do to promote a Website before you start playing around with links.
  • James Chin: Thanks for the link guide. I`ve been reading here and there and the ideas are mixing in my mind. Better start from basic and reliable source. 🙏🙏
  • Tim Capper: Focus content for your site
  • James Chin: Tim Capper Alright. Thanks
