Hiding address in GMB and Yelp

For a service based business, I know that Yelp and GMB allow you to hide your address but many citations dont have that option. Won`t it cause ranking issues if you have GMB and Yelp with just a city and other citations with an actual address?

YOUR ANSWERS

  • Scott Clark: This is very difficult to know since the citation consistency is only one of the factors affecting local. You want to strive for consistency, but after helping hundreds of locations, I really think that Name, Phone and URL consistency are key above all. You may want to ask the Whitespark team this question, they`re great.
  • Don Vermeer: Very, very interesting question. I`d say it shouldn`t matter, but I wonder what people with more experience`s take is.
  • Tim Capper: Remember that even if you hide address in GMB and select service areas, it still knows what address you assigned originally to get the post card - so if you do use citations where you add address - consistancy will be okay

You should also have your address on your contact us page for transparency and accountability + any legal business registrations will have that address.

Just because your GMB address is not visible - does not mean your address is not recognised.
