Because yet still I have not find any even single website in which webmaster have connected their google my business verified listing page to their website. Webmasters have still going with simple google plus verified business page.  ;

  And I say again >> yes it is good to add it to your social icons, like FB and Twit
  
  And it is also good to mark them up with social schema
