Finding website`s competitors

how do you find a website`s competitors for an industry you know nothing about, has multiple locations in the same state and you can`t get ahold of the client to ask them yourself?

  • Ashok Panda: how to find a website`s competitors for an industry, you know nothing about..... start learning about the industry... explore keywords with commercial / transactional intent. use those keywords to search on google and you will see the competitors ranking in top 10 positions of SERP-- second part of question needs to be better phrased..!
  • Neil Cheesman: Hm... Presumably, you have access to analytics and logs to see which key phrases have been leading traffic to the site? As above, using key phrases, type into Google/Bing and there is your competition (online anyway) - don`t understand why you `cannot get hold of the client` - obviously check out the map listings etc for `local competition` - ie key phrases and location etc... hopefully, being a marketing agency you may have other ideas up your sleeve? (above imho)
