Does opening link in new window affect SEO?

This is a dumb question - but here goes. I am contracting for a Fortune 500 in content- .(SEO expert I am not). I do use tools like semrush for background. I did a keyword density and their IT team told me this.
"Any time we have a link that opens in a new window, we have hidden text coded into the link for screen readers to pick up that tells them the link they came across will open a new window. It’s an accessibility accommodation we’ve made."
The second highest keyword density using SEOquake is open, new, window. Is this affecting SEO?

thanks everyone once again for there time and response.
  • Jim Munro: Hi Tarun.

You should ask your followups under your own question post but here is a quick answer. You can see from the Wiki page that the information was deemed "outdated" 18 months ago. Please read the section of the page titled "Deprecation"

There is no point studying PageRank because for now Google hides it from external sight i.e. you have nothing to test or validate. All you need to know is that PageRank was once the only Google algorithm and it is still in use but nobody knows in what form or how much it is relevant to other algorithms. That is all you should care to know about it.

Your time would be far more usefully employed studying the Google Search Quality Rating Guidelines: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com.au/2015/11/updating-our-search-quality-rating.html
