Backlinks from bad website

Scenario: your website gets a "nofollow" backlink from another website, that you learn currently is under a Google manual penalty. Does this link from the penalized website hurt your website? Even if the penalized website is still indexed in Google? Would the backlink still help you?

Federico Sasso: I wouldn't worry about a penalty, as the link is nofollow. Besides, it might bring you precious targeted traffic. Of course, you can always disavow it if you want to.
Gun and Camera - Everything Infrared: I just didn't want it to bring a penalty to my website if that makes sense
Promoz SEO: If the link is nofollow then there is nothing to worry. But make sure that the link remains nofollow under that penalized domain.
