301 0r 302?

I have content indexed for www.mybrand.com and for mybrand.com in Google, we have a redirect 302 from www to non www, as far as I know I should change the redirection for a 301, right? with this Google only will index content rom the non www site? or I should do another thing to only have indexed content from my non www site?

  • Federico Sasso: Correct, a 301 is the proper code to return, and would solve the basic need.
    There are also other fallback options in case you can't for some reason set a 301:
    One is using the canonical tag to the preferred version.
    You could also verify the two versions on Google Search Console (for other search engines there should be similar procedures) and set the preferred version to appear on Google SERP (and even if you already 301ed, it doesn't hurt).
  • PromozSEO: As +Federico Sasso ;said, if you can do 301 redirect from www to non-www, do that otherwise or additionally you can use the rel canonical tag on each page of your site and set them to the preferred version you want Google to index.
    Google Search Console preferred version is private to Google, other search engines will not see that.
