What to do when GSC tracks .com & .com/ separately?

Which way is the best course of action if Google Search Console tracks .com & .com/ seperatly?
Does it mean that the page rank is unique to each url?

  • Ryan Jones: if they`re showing in search console as 2 separate URLs with different clicks/impressions and you don`t have a canonical tag or redirect in place, you should put a redirect or canonical tag in place.

  • Ryan Jones: you can force a trailing slash or no trailing slash with .htaccess if you`re on apache.
  • Nathan Nikolay Gaidy: Unfortunately it`s WordPress so I added the URL on the front page.

    How long do you think it takes Google to figure it out?

    i think in this case it is only a canonical tag, no?
  • Ryan Jones: depending on your host you can change the settings in htaccess or your redirects file. if you`ve never done it before though, it`s not super straightforward. you may want to talk to your dev or your host to do it.
