Dumb SEO Questions

We`re getting excessive duplicate content issues

On my client`s site we have 2 areas that show their locations (https://www.pelicanshops.com/) - one at the top of the page, and an area at the bottom of the page. We`re getting excessive duplicate content issues (811 pages worth). These locations need to be on every page, but can you give me a suggestion as to where this code should be/or other technique to minimize duplicate content? The top locations are in the tag, should the bottoms be in the tag? Any constructive criticism is appreciated.

  • Jeff Ferguson: Usually an address wouldn`t trip a duplicate content warning. Could it be something else?
  • Darlene Jaye Hanchett: I`m trying to convince the client to minimize the amount of links on the navigation but the error are coming from one of the location areas. It`s saying 10 links are responsible and that 10 times the number of pages is throwing the error.
  • Jim Munro: Hi Darlene Jaye Hanchett. Check out pages like this: https://www.pelicanshops.com/east-brunswick-current-advertisements/
  • Jim Munro: I think the issue is not "duplicate content" but "virtually no content" that leads to these pages being flagged as duplicate. I think you could try adding more text, at least to your advertising pages, to make it clear that there is a reason for your advertising pages to be different for each location.
