  It depends.
  Could be a host of reasons.

  Dave Elliott: Loads of possible reasons for this!
  
  a) Google views your site as more important all of a sudden due to better rankings/new links
  b) there have been lots of content/design changes on your site
  c) all of a sudden, due to a plugin for example, your site is creating lots of new pages, which google needs to crawl
  d) Google-bot is mental and does what it wants
  
  Could be any of those and a load more things.
