Social Signal Numbers

Hi there I have a question! :)
Recently i have discovered that my social signal numbers are very low for example they are recorded as 26 facebook likes when i have 2, 700 followers on my page. It states I have had 21 shares when i know I have had over 500 for one post alone! I am baffled by these numbers and i think it`s affecting my site position - can you help explain this to me.
