Rankings on desktop and mobile

If you have a responsive website will your rankings on desktop and mobile for a given keyword be the same?

If you have a mobile sub-domain is there more chance the ranking will be different as you are looking at 2 domains?

I look forward to your thoughts thanks!

  • Jim Munro: We have done this a few times. Having an m. site has usually resulted in the mobile site winning for a different set of keywords.
