Searching my brand name doesn`t give me my homepage

Hi all. A brand search for my business gives me two results on the top of Google, my contact us page and my about us page. Not my homepage! Is there a reason for this? How can I get my homepage to come up in the search when I search my brand?

  • মোঃ কামরুজ্জামান: Give some internal links to your website home with that keyword.
  • Wayne Davis: Internal links to my homepage with the domain name as keyword?
  • মোঃ কামরুজ্জামান: Also, make some do-follow backlinks to your home page with that keyword.
  • Wayne Davis: Thank you :)
  • Tim Capper: Google is finding more relevant information on your About Page - then you do on your Home Page

Your about page also has a better overall Meta description then your home page (my opinion)
  • Wayne Davis: Thanks Tim
  • Stockbridge Truslow: It`s a search intent sort of thing that may be somewhat difficult to overcome. I`m seeing this more and more in service type industries - especially ones that are "in play" right now. (To know who is "in play" - look at recent Google update analysis papers and the list of niches that seem to be most affected.)

I can`t be exactly sure here since all this is relatively new, but when searching for a service brand, people tend to be looking for one of two things - information about the company, or how to contact the company.

Your about page is the one page on the site which meets ALL those things (sort of). Every page has the footer with the contact info in it. And the phone number is sprinkled around everywhere as a CTA button.... but the "Contact Form" (at least based upon my quick scan of the site) only appears on the About Page and the Contact Page.

This (helps to) make your About Page the most relevant page to search intent. It tells about the company and it offers up all the variable ways you`re suggesting for folks to contact you.

Try adding the contact form to the Home Page. That should, in theory, make the home page meet the intent, too. Or - remove it from the About Page. (I like having contact forms on pages besides the contact page, but this choice of having it on this page as opposed to others seems arbitrary... )
  • Wayne Davis: Thanks for the detailed response Stockbridge, much appreciated.
  • Suresh K: Create some backlinks to your homepage using your branded keywords. It will start ranking.
  • Wayne Davis: Thanks Suresh K
  • Jayasanker Jayakrishnan: people who search for the kw is mainly clicking on these pages. Backlink to your home page from these pages and include contact details on your home page.
  • Wayne Davis: Thanks Jayasanker
