Opening Link in new window

I want my customers to easily move from my website to my company` social media outlets. For the best SEO, should I set up the link to open in a new window or in the same window? I`ve read so many opposing comments, I`m not sure what to do.

Dave Elliott: I prefer opening any external link in a new window/tab so that users can easily get back to my site.
