Many of my mobile pages are de-indexed

Hi guys,
I hope you can help me with this.
in our sites we start to see that our urls from mobile devices were de indexed and at the same time our m.site started to index urls, as result we are seeing a lost in the total traffic, we are asking our TI guys if they do something that make this happened they say they didnt nothing, do you guys know is Google is deindexing the non mobile urls to index de m.site urls, or in fact were the IT guys that implement something that change that, inthink that they implement the 302 redirection but how can I see that?

  • Andres Felipe Echavarria Henao: Hi guys,
I hope you can help me with this.
in our sites we start to see that our urls from mobile devices were de indexed and at the same time our m.site started to index urls, as result we are seeing a lost in the total traffic, we are asking our TI guys if they do something that make this happened they say they didnt nothing, do you guys know is Google is deindexing the non mobile urls to index de m.site urls, or in fact were the IT guys that implement something that change that, inthink that they implement the 302 redirection but how can I see that?
  • Federico Sasso: Hi +Andres Felipe Echavarria Henao,
it's very hard answering your question without an URL to check. Can you please share it?

  • Federico Sasso: Hey +Jim Munro ;I know plain urls are frowned upon as suspect self promotion, but had to ask Andres Felipe so that the panelists or other contributors could inspect and help, so please blame me :)
  • Federico Sasso: +Andres Felipe Echavarria Henao ;please (I'm recalling the community policies), could you please disable the active link? removing the protocol and www part should be enough
  • Jim Munro: It's OK, +Federico Sasso ;it is perfectly reasonable for it to stay. It's clear that it is not self-promotion but thank you for your diligence.
  • Federico Sasso: +Andres Felipe Echavarria Henao ;in the case you pointed to, I can confirm there is a 302 in place for when mobile devices are detected on the www site.

    How to see it:
the easiest way is using chrome, hitting F12 and selecting mobile device emulator, selecting the Network tab, entering the www url; the first item in the cascade you'll see is the 302 redirection.

I didn't inspect too much, but at first sight it doesn't look wrong to me: google shows www. URLs for desktop searches and m. urls for mobile searches.
According to the graphs you posted looks like the total traffic is roughly the same, just diverted to m. for mobile users.
    Am I missing something?
  • Andres Felipe Echavarria Henao: Thank you very much Federico, Yes you are right, my doubt is if this was made by google (deindex site.com and index m.site) or it was made as a consequence of the implementation of the 302, because our IT team say that they didnt do anything and the redirect was made a long time ago
  • Federico Sasso: Was the 302 redirect served to googlebot the same way as it is now?
  • Andres Felipe Echavarria Henao: Thats the thing that I have to find :S the redirect could be a java redirect? in that way anyhting would happened?
  • Federico Sasso: I'm not sure I caught your last question. My suspect is the redirect wasn't served to googlebot before the changes you observed. I have no way to know how the server side redirect is implemented, be it via java code, via htaccess, via hardware...
  • Andres Felipe Echavarria Henao: yes I think the same I have to ask what type of redirects they are implementing, thank you very much to take the time to answer my question Federico!!
