Linking back to news source

Hi all,
If i`m writing copy that contains a lot of duplicate copy from news sources, what is best practise to link back to the original news source?
When we look at placing links (referencing the actual original news source) continually through the copy it just doesn`t fit right. One solution, we`ve suggested, is to use footnotes, then in the footnotes at the bottom of the page link out to the news source from their. We`ve also mentioned using `blockquotes` around the actual copied content.
Anyone have any suggestions to best deal with a lot of duplicated copy in this manner?  We really don`t want to just add lots of links through the body of the copy, other suggestions that follow best practise will really help.
Thanks in advance.

  • K. S. Bisht: 1- you can use cross domain canonical to the original article. This wont impact you from any penalty. Google knows that you're using the content from that source and would prefer to index the original.

2- use resource links for original article.. as you said..you're already using this.

3- put your duplicate content in "quote" and add some original on the same page.
  • Matt Raynes: Thanks, yes we're doing 1 and 2 but just wondered if there are any other methods/options. Thanks again for your help.
