I need to drop placement for national SERPs

I need to drop placement for national SERPs without loosing local placement. Any ideas?

A few months ago, I started working at the local county elections office. During lunch, I did some tweaks to the website and accidentally got top placement. Our staff can barely handle the call volume from our county visitors, but with the presidential election I need to figure out to have the visitors focused only in our county... not the whole nation. Help!

  • Federico Sasso: Interesting problem many would want to have
Could a disclaimer like "Only for xyz county" in meta description help?
It wouldn't impact ranking, but might prevent users from outside clicking on the link; when you want the big traffic back, just restore the previous meta description.
  • Ryan Cramer: +Federico Sasso, Sounds like a good idea, however, in our TDK and url our county is already specified (we all know Google makes up the SERP description anyhow).
