I have a question about no-follow or do-follow links

I am new to SEO and had a question about no-follow or do follow links. If a company wants to put a paid/sponsored article on our website and request a do follow link, is this a good idea? How does it help or hurt our website? We recently got flagged by Google for a post and we do not want this to happen again. Up until now, we had not done no-follow links because we didn`t know to do so. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Caronda Hampton: Anything that sends people away from your site hurts you unless you`re getting paid for it
  • Jim Munro: Any links that they pay for must be nofollow. There is no middle ground.
  • Teras Hosang: Depend the priceDo follow far more expensive than no follow…
  • Jayasanker Jayakrishnan: If you`re under scanner, i suggest you use "no-follow." Otherwise, Google will deem that your links wont pass link equity.
  • Michael Martinez: "We recently got flagged by Google for a post and we do not want this to happen again."That answers your question right there. Don`t sell links without "nofollow" or "sponsored" attributes or you`ll face worse from Google.
