How to check how many pages are indexed by Google?

Is site: the best way to check how many pages are indexed by Google? Is it more reliable than Googe Search Console? Is it normal that not all of the pages get indexed? What insight should I take from the fact that for a website, 211 URLs have been submitted and 206 are indexed?

Francois-Pierre Marcil: 206 out of 211 = very good, look at the 5 pages that are not indexed, it is normally pretty obvious why they are not. Low value, too new, not discoverable enough etc.
