How page size is calculated?

How page size calculated?Hi everyone, I recently have a hard time understand the general ideas of page size, is that only consider the size of html, or in include css, js and img. etc? Also, Screaming frog says it get the page size data using Content-Length Header, what is that mean? is it generally auto-generated in the header after the calculation of size? Or the developer usually set it themself manually? ( so it might not be correct?) Let me know if you have any experiences or ideas. Thanks,

  • Marina Dolcic: It includes the images, js, css etc. Try GTMetrix, you will see a bit better how big each of them are. SEOptimer.com has a page size breakdown that could be useful too
  • Shao Chieh Lo: Thank you so much Marina Dolcic Do you know anything about content-length header, how it`s value is generated usually?
  • Marina Dolcic: Shao Chieh Lo sorry, don’t know much about that. Only that I dont think that the pagesize is set by the developer but depends on the sizes of each file used to generate the website
  • Shao Chieh Lo: Marina Dolcic I agree, I run the GTMetric and they report very different size then the one reported in SF, I think that header might not be accurate
