Google flags http sites as not secured?

Hi everyone, I was wondering since Google flags http sites as not secured if backlinks pointing to your site by these type of domains can hurt your site? Has any of you looked into that? Any articles/case studies to share with me? Thanks in advance

  • Randy Ray: Nah, links from such sites wouldn`t hurt your site.
  • Richard Hearne: How would one go about testing this in a controlled environment? Impossible to do. All you could produce is conjecture without knowing how Google`s internal processes handle this.
  • George G.: Hah, doubt it. Google pushed https for other (commercial) reasons, not users safety. And anyway the majority of the blogs online are just information so they dont need ssl anyway.
