  • Jim Munro: Good job, Google.

Your messing about with search on Google+ has now produced this  ;result with two spam communities followed by soft porn in the top 3 positions. What's next?
  • Jim Munro: This community does not even show up for a search for "seo questions" or "seo questions community" or "dumb seo questions community" at the moment. Good job Google, very clever.

  • Marty Eigner: I found it on the first page.
  • Jim Munro: Thanks Marty but I am referring to  ;Googleplus search, and I am guessing you found it in organic search.
  • Dan Petrovic: I see it in results for all three queries.
  • Marty Eigner: So do I
  • Jim Munro: Where am I going wrong?

  • Ryan Cramer: You're right! Under "Communities" for the Google+ search, neither this community nor the "Dumb SEO Questions" communities show up. I wonder, did you set this up as a community page before communities were created (so as not to be grandfathered in to the communities search)?
  • Jim Munro: We created the SEO Questions community on the day that communities were released, +Ryan Cramer ;.

This exclusion thing is something which comes and goes. Usually this community is in position three but every now and then it is excluded altogether. I think it's algorithmic because other communities with a legitimate right to be shown are also excluded for searches of variations of their own name.

I think it's just a result of careless programming.
  • Ryan Cramer: I'm sorry I don't have any experience with this issue.  ;I just wanted to share that I am seeing the same thing you are, while everyone else seems to be finding you.  ;I hope you find the "glitch in the Matrix" because this community is a valuable resource that I'd hate to see anyone missing out on

  • Jim Munro: Wow, look at those same results now. Thank you, Google. :)
  • Marty Eigner: Back at #1. Does Google have an algorithm to rank communities similar to Google Search?
  • Jim Munro: I do not know Marty. We've never been at one before BTW, 3 has been the highest position before now.
