Hi all, Site is using CDN for images. This means URLs are "external". How do search engines know that those files are "CDN" and are NOT external resources?

  • Stockbridge Truslow: Not 100% sure here, but CDNs are arranged in known clusters and resolve back to things that would make it easy to see that it`s a CDN. I don`t know exactly how they manage that - but... even with my limited experience in that area, I can think of several ways to easily accomplish it, so I`d have to assume that Google can manage it just fine - and automatically.

  • Michael Martinez: I don`t think it matters to Google, though, where the images are hosted. Do you have a specific concern?

  • Rudolf Ladyzhenskii: Yes. Don`t external links "suck" seo juices from your site?

  • Michael Martinez: Rudolf Ladyzhenskii No. I wish people (bloggers, vloggers, conference presenters, etc.) would quit repeating that nonsense. It`s an old myth that needs to die a horrible death.

Worse, you`re talking about images - which never pass PageRank in any possible way.

  • Rudolf Ladyzhenskii: Michael Martinez thanks. That was a late night thought brought about by ScreamingFrog showing list of all those links.
