Dave Elliott: Cname is like a canonical tag but for DNS stuff. Basically if you use say mail.mysite.com and email.mysite.com you can control which is the primary version and stuff. Its also used for www and non www versions of sites and stuff. I'll be shocked if you need to know any of this!

Dave Elliott: easiest for you is likely to be verifying using your GA account or possibly the meta tag.
