Hi guys, Quick question about toxic backlinks.Under what circumstances should we remove backlinks due to toxicity? Are there any decent guides on toxic auditing? Of course any ideas from you guys would be great. But essentially I heard it`s rare to work about toxic link removal?Cheers

  • Ash Nallawalla: Quick answer: No. Toxicity isn`t a Google definition. If you think it is toxic by a tool`s definition, disavow it, but I`d rather wait for a manual penalty to do so.
  • Richard Hearne: Turning this question back - how are you defining "toxic"? Unless you are relatively sure that "toxic" links are impacting your site`s ability to appear in organic search, I would leave disavow alone. I`ve never used it, and I`m 20 years in this game working for some very large websites.
  • Michael Martinez: "Under what circumstances should we remove backlinks due to toxicity?"When you receive a manual action (penalty) from either search engine."Are there any decent guides on toxic auditing?"Nope."Of course any ideas from you guys would be great."Read the search engine guidelines (currently disguised on Google as "Search Essentials").https://developers.google.com/.../essent.../spam-policies...
