Internal links from pilar page to blog

If I`m writing a pillar page, does it help to have internal links to relevant blogs? I understand that the reverse is true (you want to link to the pillar page from relevant blogs), but is the reverse also true?

Travis Bailey: Linking to relevant pages is a decent chunk of on-page optimization, regardless of nomenclature.
