  • Michael Martinez: So, first of all, the link in your post sends me to YouTube. I`ve never see Facebook do that with a link before.

As for the Contact Point data using Schema markup, that`s a JSON object and search engines like Bing and Google may parse it, so there could be an SEO benefit to doing that.
  • Shao Chieh Lo: Michael Martinez thank you, another question is, there is no on page elements of contact points, would it be a problem?
  • Michael Martinez: Shao Chieh Lo I don`t recall working with any sites that do this, so this is a little out of my experience. Hopefully someone else will jump in with some anecdotes to share.
  • Shao Chieh Lo: Michael Martinez I see, thank you so much , here`s an example ;sourcecode::
    view-source:https://www8.hp.com/us/en/home.html
  • Michael Martinez: Shao Chieh Lo I looked at the source code. I understand what they are doing. I just can`t think of any sites I`ve worked with in the past couple of years that used this kind of markup. So I can`t give you an opinion on how much it helps with SEO.

Bing and Google engineers have said they try to crawl and understand JSON markup as much as possible. So they will try to use the data, but there are so many ways to use JSON it`s impossible to estimate how much any one implementation helps without seeing some data.
  • Eddie Nehani: It can be beneficial to SE understanding what the page is about, however schema is not a ranking factor. I also don’t recall using this markup.
  • Stockbridge Truslow: Contact Points are part of the organization markup which is the primary entity of (most) commercial web sites. The benefit is NAP consistency for the brand - using the same schema definition table. There`s no real ranking benefit, but there is benefit to having consistent organization markup to identify the entity whatever the pages on the site are going to be attached to.

So... ranking? Not so much - but helping the search engines to know what to rank for and in clearly and consistently defining that entity - yeah. It`s a good move.
  • Shao Chieh Lo: Stockbridge Truslow Thank you so much!

This is very helpful and insightful
