301 redirects and preserving ranking

Hello. I have to give up a URL that I own (long story, bottom line is it`s not negotiable). The website at this URL is over 7 years old and has over 85 articles on it. I already moved the site to a new URL and currently have 301 redirects in place. Unfortunately, I need to give up the URL soon. How can I keep from losing all the SEO and rankings built up over the years knowing I can`t keep the old domain or the 301 redirects in place? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • Nicky Hall: I am not technical and just belong to this job board but reading this turned my stomach... sorry you are going through this, it sounds such a pain and a negative end to a long battle - good luck, I hope it all works out.
  • Kristine McKinley: Follow up question... I haven`t released the URL yet. I may request if I can just allow the URL to expire (three months from now) instead of being forced to delete it right now.

My question is will the 301 redirects give me enough "juice" over the next three months to make any difference or will I still lose all my rankings as soon as the URL expires and the redirects are gone?
