Internal Linking to Relevant Pages
A general question re internal linking which I believe is generally seen as being `good practice`. The concept of internal linking to pages/urls with relevant content seems perfectly legitimate and is widely used. But, what about the use of key words or key phrases linking back to the home page? Is this just as acceptable? And does this in turn help the home page rank for those linked phrases. Any evidence of that? ps.. and what is `acceptable` linking and what might be considered `spamming`?

Micah Fisher-Kirshner: With internal linking to the homepage, generally acceptable practice to use the keywords you want. Spammy would be if all your pages on the site are just filled with links and is of nothing else.
Micah Fisher-Kirshner: Helpful wise... Well, I don`t think there`s been any studies recently to showcase if it internal links to the homepage with the right anchor text still helps.
I believe it does, as I don`t think Google has a specific algo exception for the homepage while not for other pages with internal linking.
