Directory Indexing and 404

We have changed hosting to a company which doesn`t have directory indexing enabled in order to remove unnecessary pages and have noticed many 404 and 403 errors appearing in Google WMT. Is this something to be concerned with?

  • Jim Munro: I don't think so, Marty. 404's are a fact of life on any busy website. The GWMT notification is more of an informational than an error. 403s are being produced now because you formerly sent a folder index but now googlebot is told "not allowed".
