  • Ash Nallawalla: You need to use the right word there. If the site is Amazon and they are selling Seagate drives, then both are brand names. As it happens, Amazon is at the beginning of their title tag, probably because they want it to be seen, even if the rest of the title is obscured. I would put the site name at the end, as I prefer the title to be visible.

  • Stockbridge Truslow: I like to put it at the beginning. My Brand is the most important thing and even without a click, I want the person to see my brand and get that impression. People tend to search for the same types of things over and over, so if your brand keeps coming up week in and week out, pretty soon you`ll feel "familiar" to them, even though they may never have visited and eventually you`ll get the click.

True... Google likes to push it to the end a lot of the time. And that`s fine. I`ve found that even if they do that - the brand gets into the SERPs, anyway - just at the end. When the brand is at the end of the title, when Google changes up the title or shortens it, the brand can get cut off sometimes.

With that in mind... you want it to be short, too. If your brand is long - you want to create a brand symbol out of letters. Six or less. It should be something no one else in your industry is using so it doesn`t get confused with them, but it doesn`t necessarily need to be unique to the world. For my old blog (long dead now) I called it "Equestics" (a word I made up because it sounded like it might mean "the science of learning e-business"). My brand symbol that I started every title with was just EQ: because no one else in digital marketing was using that. Lots of places with long names have it - IMDB, NYT, UCLA, etc.

  • Cozma Dan: Don`t bother. Google will add it at the end if that`s the case. Just watch other products/brands and see what Google prefers
