Dumb SEO Questions

(Entry was posted by Justin Countryma on this post in the Dumb SEO Questions community on Facebook, 01/10/2014).

What software or tools people use to analyze data to select keywords for their sites?

I starting out in the world of SEO and I wanted to know what software or tools people use to analyze data to select keywords for their sites? As part of a site`s architecture you want some core pages that use your head keyword terms and child pages with mid tail and long tail keywords to support the core pages.

But how do you figure out which keywords should be used that will drive traffic but not impossible to rank for.

I have used Market Samurai which seems like a good tool to use but wondering if there is a better tool that can help analyze the data Adwords provides.

Thanks!?

  • PK Group: Positionly is very good, and shows you specific keyword positions. Adwords 'keyword planner' tools is a good place to start too, since it gives you a monthly estimated traffic figure and a 'competition' gauge. Hope this helps!
  • SeoWix: We think Market Samurai is still good to research on KWs. it seem you are going in right direction.
