But why is it then that when I search a particular keyword the results seem to be ordered by how well known a particular website is, not by quality of content? I’ll often find that the top result is nowhere near the best article, but just comes from a well known site

Rajesh Mago: Rhiannon De Havas I agree with you as Google algorithms give more trust to bigger sites and sometimes makes them rank wrongly too with better quality sites having matching content to the searched keywords ranked lower.One such example is Search Engine Journal (SEJ) site whose pages ranks better for a lot of queries not exactly matching the content at URLs page listed from SEJ.
If i have a website with domain rating 39. What kind of keywords can i select? As in, with a little bit of work, competitors of 50 DR is acceptable?
