What is the best way to determine the detailed backlink profile of a website?

  Dave Elliott: I tend to use a combination of majestic, ahrefs and Google search console and then grab all the majestic metrics using screaming frog/URL profiler, dedupe and then have a play with the data...that is if i need a really detailed profile though! I would only go into that level of depth if I was trying to recover a site from a penalty.Generally, i`ll just use Majestic.Worth pointing out that Moz has just re-launched their link analysis tool and seem to think it is very competitive, I have yet to have a play or see any sensible comparative reviews though.

  Travis Bailey: Really, honestly, it comes from hundreds of hours of studying backlinks. And a few algorithm changes. But yeah, you want to get as much backlink information as you can. I use all of the above, and sometimes Link Detox. It`s trained by users - and fed all of the above data.
