Dumb SEO Questions

(Entry was posted by Neeraj Kumar on this post in the Dumb SEO Questions community on Facebook, 01/28/2014).

What I should do when posting hindi poems on my blog?

Hope I got a lot of suggestions from experienceds as adviced by +Jim Munro I have a blog and I post my hindi poems on that. I planned to give English translation of the already posted poems and and meanings of difficult hindi words.

Now 2 questions come in my mind:

1. Should I create a new post with translation and word meanings and link it to the previous post?

2. Or I should go to the published post and add the new content in the post?

I am asking this keeping in my mind that google love websites regularly updated with new contents. New post or updates in content- which will be taken as new content and make googlebot visit the site?

  • Ashish Ahuja: There are pros and cons to both the ways. If it makes sense from user point of view to give the translation on same page, then its best to give it there.

From Google perspective, if you give on the same page, then it increases the chances for that page to appear in english search results (if people are searching for the poem though, I don't know if poetry sites get traffic from search engines).

If you put it on a separate page with link from the original post then it reduces bounce rate if user clicks through, increases time on site and no of pages visited. However, the english translation may rank on its own and then it may become difficult for user to find the original poem.
