What do you think of this DUMB link-building strategy?
Someone send this link-building strategy to me and I want to seek your indulgence as to how safe it is. He asked me to write and submit articles to blogs and article directories, which I presume is quite good. However, he asked me to go to microtask websites and pay workers to click on the links I provided on the submitted articles and guestposts. And that`s all. To me, it looks skeptical. What`s your take on this strategy? if it can work, how do you do it right? Thanks.

  • David Gossage: OK, so article directories is a giant "run away" and anyone who suggests this should be immediately sacked and put in a time machine to send them back to 2009.In terms of paying people to click on the links in the articles? What for? I suspect they`ll come back with some nonsense about Google tracking users via magic and suddenly realising that the shitty link directory isn`t a shitty link directory. Sounds horrific in every way.
  • Michael Martinez: Not a useful strategy.
  • Tim Capper: Waste of time, could be doing something constructive on site.
  • Veniz Maja Guzman: Paying people to click links sounds incredibly shady, not to mention unsustainable in the long term!
  • Neil Cheesman: About 10 years ago, my website got hit by a Google `link` penalty - since that time I haven`t `sought` links from anywhere - I produce content and that content automatically gets links - some `good` links and some spammy ones. It has taken a while, but I can sleep at night. Others may have a different strategy, but this works for me.
  • Phillip Matte: Just do not jeopardize yourself, doing questionable things.
  • Krishan Lakhiwal: which seo person give this type strategy
  • Shane Deubell: The real value is when someone clicks link, lands on the page and engages with the content in some way and seeks out even more information on the website.
  • Ivan David Lippens: Kind of surprising guys are saying this is no good... It`s about the click-throughs... and yes, there are public studies that shkw it works. The content vehicle is not the strategy... it`s ghe CTR.
  • Michael Martinez: Ivan David Lippens Any public studies purporting to show this strategy works are worthless. Clicking on links in articles has no effect whatsoever on anything other than analytics.
  • Ivan David Lippens: Michael Martinez I`ve personally used this successfully. And again, there are major public demonstrations of its effectiveness.Do a search on CTR SEO, or something.Good day to you, sir...
  • Michael Martinez: Ivan David Lippens And, again, it doesn`t work. You can stand on a street corner and snap your fingers and get the same kind of performance benefits. Also, if you insist on insulting people in this group, we`ll put you on moderation. You`re welcome to disagree with people but be respectful.
  • Dennis Hamming: Ctr boosting works (temporarily)
