We recently migrated from a .net to a .com website address and I have some questions about it

Hi Friends,

We recently migrated from a .net to a .com website address. We have applied a 301 redirect to every page on the old website (including the sitemap) to redirect to the corresponding page on the new website.

The question that`s bugging me was:

I had submitted the old sitemap to Google WMT. So
Can I keep it (And Google will index the pages on the new website)
OR
Do I have to add and verify the new website to Google WMT??

  • Richard Hearne: Verify both domains in gwt and then use the site move tool to help Google understand the move. Sum assumes you've kept the same URL structure.
  • Divyaansha S: Thanks Richard Hearne. The URL structure is the same as the old. The new website does have some new pages though like "Contact us".
  • Rahul Gemawath: Submitted the new sitemap.
  • Joshua Boles: +Alex Hoskins
