Wanted to know how much time does it take for the rankings to change

Hi,
Wanted to know how much time does it take for the rankings to change. I am working on a website which is almost 5 months old. Created some links, done almost everything that is there in webmaster. Its been at least 2 weeks. My PR is still N/A.
Plus I tried the site navigator tool from Moz. That displays the (190)links to my website. But when I try to search on google for the links(link:website) no results are generated. Just one result on webmaster links to your site is there.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you!

  • eBizWebpages: Do you have a Google Webmaster Tools account? If not, you should get one and add the site you're working on to it. There may be problems with the site that Google doesn't like and if that is the case then Google will tell you what those problems are in the WT account.
  • SKI USA INC: There are many factors that may be causing you not to rank for the keyword. Maybe you may have not chosen the proper keywords, the competition may just be too stiff and are doing a better job than you.

Your landing pages aren't great enough or maybe your link building may not be up to the mark for Google to trust your site.

You say webmaster is showing just 1 link? How many links have you been building to the website? Probably they weren't trustworthy enough to be included in the index
  • Steven Ciccantelli: Did I not read in this community that Google is not going to update PR? One option you can try and I really am new to this,moonsy.com and check your Mozrank?
  • Marty Eigner: Pagerank has not been updated for about 9 months and won't be again this year according to Matt Cutts
  • Dave Elliott: Yeah, pr wont be updated until at least the new year now.

As for how long google takes, whenever it next crawls your site. Normally every month at the very least(it depends on how popular the site is and how often new cotent is added etc) I agree with everyonr else check in webmaster tools to see if there are any problems preventing it being crawled/indexed.
  • Steven Ciccantelli: Does site:www.etc tell whether or not it is indexed by Google?
  • Marty Eigner: Yes it does
  • Steven Ciccantelli: +Moeez Bin Hamid Google has me at PR0 and no back links whatsoever.Yet Moz Rank just over 4.As I am new to this I do get confused.
Make sure when you link Web master tools that you do a Google fetch then send the result to index.
  • Steven Ciccantelli: Then use site:your website hopefully that helps.
  • Matthew Banes: As far as I'm aware, it's been a long time since the last PR update and they may not be updating it again. The Domain / Page Authority you're getting from OSE will be a better indicator
  • Ranu Jain: Hi Moeez,

Could you please share the URL of your site?
  • Steven Ciccantelli: +Matthew Banes Lol they are much lower but thanks.
  • Moeez Bin Hamid: Thank you so much for your replies and help. Really appreciate it.
I have linked the website to webmaster ; tool guys. No problem with the website. I check it daily.
+Steven Ciccantelli Yes I Google fetch and sent the result to index. I need to make the blog on the website active.
+Ranu Jain I didn't share the URL as I read in some post that it was against the community guidelines. I am not sure If I should be sharing it, +Dave Elliott can I share the URL?
Possible reason for the N/A rank could be that PR is not updated for about 9 months and the website is just 4-5 months old.

How do I get to know the rank for a specific keyword?
  • Marty Eigner: You can look in your webmaster tools
  • Moeez Bin Hamid: +Marty Eigner where exactly in the webmaster tools? Content keywords shows the significance of a keyword.. I am not sure that is related to the rank of a specific keyword.
  • Dave Elliott: Share it but break the link is the general rule. So www.mysite dot com or something
  • Steven Ciccantelli: +Moeez Bin Hamid maybe you can send site to +Ranu Jain privately.I think its OK to share publicly if someone asks but like me you are smart to be cautious.
Let's see what others say about the sharing.Ranu has helped me on more then one occasion.
BTW Bing also has a set of tools similar to GMT.
  • Marty Eigner: +Moeez Bin Hamid go to Search Traffic then Search Queries
  • Moeez Bin Hamid: ok, Thanks.
    +Ranu Jain ;
    URL is www.thefundingprofessionals dot com
  • Moeez Bin Hamid: I don't know the advanced techniques. I just followed what is there in the webmaster. Did things accordingly. Learning stage for me right now.
