The text in the Title Tag is the same as the H1 on the page

The text in the Title Tag is the same as the H1 on the page. Is it "worth it" to rewrite one or the other so they`re all unique? (e.g., A blog has hundreds of posts, H1 is blog post title, which is same as Title Tag. One would need to rewrite title tags of all posts.)

  • Webado C Webada: That`s OK, nothing wrong with that.
  • Bill Hartzer: One of the SEO tools flagging this issue explains that they flag same H1 and same title tag because it`s "over optimization".
  • Neil Cheesman: I asked the exact same question a few months ago (semrush I think) - as mentioned above (and I am sure I have seen on Google doc somewhere) it makes no difference them being the same...
  • Alan Bleiweiss: Seriously. The Title is for external needs, and the H1 is for internal needs. Both are meant to communicate the primary, refined topical focus of the page. Any claim that matching them is somehow over optimization, is bullshit. Are there cases where you can tailor Titles for better Click rates in SERPs, and alter them to be more on-page readable? Absolutely. Is it necessary to avoid "over optimization"? No fekkin way.
  • Bill Hartzer: Both semrush SEO audit tool and screaming frog have this functionality or reporting, showing title is same as h1. Not sure where they both came up with that.
  • Webado C Webada: Yeah, but not true.
