  • Anthony Xavier: There is a myriad of variables being used, not just backlinks.
  • Kanav Gupta: do you have a good link for that to look out those different variables ?
  • Citation Gurus: Content is a part of it as well. I would like to see this site as well. Are they using blog networks so the links are from blog networks?
  • Kanav Gupta: Hi, thank you for your response. here is the site :

if you found anything please feel free to share the same :)
  • Archie Watt: PageRank is calculated exclusively based on links, nothing else. PR is then used as one of many factors that Google takes into account when ranking a site, but PR itself only depends on links.

Fun fact: it's called PageRank because it was invented by Larry Page, not because of its overall impact on ranking.

As for the site with 6 backlinks having  ;PR2, that's entirely possible given that it's the quality & relevance of links rather than the quantity that matters.

Finally, PR is updated very rarely and is using old data even when it is.  ;I wouldn't worry about it.
  • Kanav Gupta: I agree with you +Archie Watt ; - that's why I was surprised  ;because the links does not seems to have that much quality as expected !!
  • SeoWix: if we see sites having no backlinks profile or few backlinks then sure there is a 301 redirect from an authority domain which passes the PR authority to pointing domain.
  • Kanav Gupta: Hi +SeoWix ;-  ;Thank you for your response. This site is created by us and there is no 301 redirect from any authority domain :( . I am still surprised how it happened.
  • Devin Peterson: I think the prominence is another factor which affects the 'strength' of the link, in addition to quantity, the linking site's PR, and maybe some more.
  • Lori Eldridge: They could have set up a 301 redirect from another site with lots of PageRank with quality links and it will give the current site a big boost.
