  • Deepali Sen: Hi All,
    I have a question for a website.Can I know that should i use Facebook open graph meta tags after page meta tags (title, description)  ;or before meta tags?. Please suggest me the right solution.
  • Dave Elliott: Doesn't matter either way.
  • David Edbrooke-Stainer: Title should always be first
  • Deepali Sen: Thanks for the reply Dave and David....Which title should always be first, ;page title or open graph title? let me know your views on this...
  • Kuldeep Singh: It doesn't matter, where you are using these tags. but always use title and description first for the convenience.
  • Deepali Sen: Thanks kuldeep
  • Tony McCreath: Just to add to the vote. It does not matter.
  • Ian Dixon: I'd put the <title> first but simply as a means of standardising my page layouts
  • SKI USA INC: No there is no hard and fast rule which should be placed first.
  • Devin Peterson: Well I think the formal recommendation is to place the page title first. ;http://google-styleguide.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/htmlcssguide.xml#General_Meta_Rules

    Does it matter much? Probably not... But for those who have (se)OCD like me, I would abide by that.
  • Tony McCreath: +Devin Peterson ;I don't see the reverence to title being first in that style guideline. ;

    One thing I do remember is that the encoding should be placed as early as possible as that can cause a reload of the content if the encoding changes.
  • Devin Peterson: +Tony McCreath ; hmm. Perhaps I was just looking at the examples, it may not explicitly state "title goes first", sorry. However, the title is the only required tag in html5 and is deemed the most important for several purposes (http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/struct/global.html#h-7.4.1), so I would think it stands to reason that it should be most prominently displayed. But effects on SEO, or UX, etc... probably none, so still doesn't matter.
