Should I create a separate blog for each area of practice?

I have a law office that provides three main areas of service. I have a main website without a blog built in.  As far as SEO optimization goes, should I create a seperate blog for each area of practice I do that way I can tailor the URL to that specific area of practice or should I have one blog that has all areas of practice but the URL is very generic.  ?

  • Neil Robins: I would just have the one blog but set up separate "categories" for each area of practice so when you create a post categorize it to the relative area of practice.
  • Abhishek Yadav: you should categorize them ....according to post ;
  • Shaya Markovic: Do I lose significant value to having my URL generic( such as just my name) as opposed to something specific towards an area of practice (such as criminal-lawyer-blog)?
  • Brent Wildman: Yes, your URL's should be descriptive and should be "optimized". If you want to rank for Criminal Lawyer Practice, then your URL should be something along the lines of /criminal-lawyer-practice
