  • Mark Steenbakkers: Hi +Uzma Asghar , this article from +Eric Enge with +Matt Cutts gives a good explanation on link building and guest blogging.

    I think that the ranking factor for social media depends on your engagement with your customers. A simple + or like doesn't do the trick anymore.
  • Tony McCreath: Just keep reading and learning. Eventually you will get a consensus opinion on what the truth may be. And that truth will be fuzzy.
  • Travis Garner: There are countless articles about this. I'll summarize all of them:

    Create outstanding content that's worth a link. Reach out to related industries and do guest posts. Ask for links where appropriate.

    Don't over think it. Focus on the audience first, SEO second.

    Unless of course you're aiming to rank a poor quality niche site for a long tail keyword or something like that. If so, way different and less desirable strategy.
  • Federico Sasso: Hi Uzma,

    let me address the "moz ranking factor" part:
    Moz never actually said G+ and FB likes are a ranking factor, they said they have a "positive correlation" with positioning.

    No, FB likes are not a ranking factor. The positive correlation can be explained with the fact the more a content is popular, the more it is likely to be both "liked" - not a signal visible to googlebot - and linked - visible to googlebot - (so btw buying likes is no use for ranking).

    Regarding G+: they are not a so-called "ranking factor", but a + (sharing on a G+ stream) is also a link, and like normal links can pass PageRank. I wouldn't nevertheless focus much on the PR aspect, and concentrate more on the social aspect: share on your stream, build an audience with good interaction, and if the content is good it will likely be re-shared and lead targeted traffic.

    Hope not having added more confusion :)
  • Uzma Asghar: Ok , but please list 10 Methods to build Links .
  • Dmitry Grunt: You must have 10-100 links for a page (in concurent niche 1000). So ansver "build or not to build" is clear :)
  • Uzma Asghar: +Dmitry Grunt ; Looking for ways to build links .. ?

    Guest post ?  ;Citation  ;which 10 to use build links & what should be the Ration in Anchor text ?
  • Dmitry Grunt: +Uzma Asghar ;you can look at your concurents sites, where they get liks, and use same tactic. ;
    PS ahrefs, magestic seo can help to analyse.
  • Philip Cross: “ Eric follows the right link building approach. He's interested in links that are given based ;
    on merit, and those are the links that stand the test of time” — Matt Cutts

    Take a look at Eric Ward Uzma.  ;He also known as "Link moses" and gives lots of updated FREE content - besides the fact that he literally wrote the book on Link building - Mostly through building relationships.
    No spamming tactics here.

    Take a look at his Pinterest page - it's all about linkbuilding tactics:
    http://www.pinterest.com/linkmoses/link-building-infographics/

    He has one of the most powerful books on link building on amazon that is "well" worth the read - It's not expensive either:
    "Link Building"  ;by Ward and French
    This book will definitely answer your question and allay your confusion.

    It discusses Guest Blogging and how to build the relationships necessary to get the links you need - and how to develop a content plan that will get people to WANT to link to you.

    I apologize my friend.  ;I did not mean to hijack your thread, but I experienced the same confusion at one time myself.

    Let me know if you have any questions or if this was helpful.

    Go Get 'em Uzma!!  ;:-)
