Hi guys,
Re robots.txt & sitemap after converting from http to https website.
I`ve changed over a site from http to https.
1. Added https property to Analytics, linked to existing adwords a/c. (we do adwords so important to monitor).
2. Submitted sitemap and verified.
3. Changed robots.txt file to point to https://name/sitemap_index.xml (using Yoast), overwriting the previous file pointing to the http:// site.
The Google verification files for http:// and http://www are still in the root domain.
Question:
I`m concerned about the robots.txt and sitemaps files. Should there be two separate files? eg robots_https.txt and robots.txt for http? Same for sitemap.
Note, there is only a https:// site now. How is this going to affect the site?
Thanks
