Local SEO: Changing the business address

Quick question:
My Client has a service based business that when they setup their GMB they used their home address, now they rank number 2 in the pack for their local area if I go in and change it to service based business and add all the places they service, will this have a negative affect on their ranking if you understand what i mean

Ben Jablonski: all else equal, it may hurt the ranking for that specific locale (usually only temporary, if at all) but on the other hand it should improve the quality of leads and increase local visibility within the service areas, to an extent

point is, if you do this, don`t freak out if you immediately see a drop. give it some time to accrue enough data/leads to decide whether it ultimately was beneficial or not (and if it is indeed a service-based business, chances are you`d be better off representing it on google as a service-based business)
