Dumb SEO Questions

Is there a way to remove only portions of a page from Google`s index?

Does anybody know if there`s a way to remove only portions of a page from Google`s index? We use noindex tags regularly for removing full pages, but what if I just want, for example, the comments portion of a page to be noindexed?

Thanks in advance.?

  • Federico Sasso: Unfortunately there's not an official way to do it. People resorted to all sorts of hack: loading a portion in an iframe, or loading portion of the content via ajax (which will be probably less likely to work in future, with googlebot increasingly better in exploring the page dom and use script files).
  • john writer: make a Iframe for Block specific content
  • Tony McCreath: Iframes do get crawled but you could disalow the iframe source in robots.txt
  • Federico Sasso: ...or noindex the iframe page.
  • Lindsey Siegele: Thanks for your help!

    The cuetimes listed on this page are functional while the live broadcast continues and also once Youtube has finished processing the public broadcast. Processing time varies between 6-24 hours. During this period the clip is viewable in full but the cuetimes cannot be relied on. ;
