Dumb SEO Questions

How do I best choose a post title and alt tag?

I have a website of quotes, within a niche, where I add a new one every day, The original part of the website is the image I create with the quote.

My question is, how do I best choose a post title and alt tag?  Here is what I am currently doing:
Post Title: AUTHOR NAME + "quote - " + 3-5 word description of the quote
ALT tag: Post Title (same as above) + a description of the image

Am I doing this well?  Is the ALT tag too long?  What could I do better??

  • Foxtail Marketing: Alt tags should usually be used to help with keywords. So, instead of making it so specific, open the tags up to attract rankings. Instead of a long tail explanation of the quote make t he alt tag "bill gates quote" or "Einstein quote" that was you will get help in the rankings when people are looking for a quote by Bill Gates or Einstein.
