  • W.E. Jonk: Not sure what you mean, maybe you can explain it a little more...

    But if you mean ppi (pixel per inch) or dpi (dots per pixel) it only affects images. That is, HTML text will be rendered in the resolution that the PC serves. If my memory suits me well a standard for ppi was 72 ppi (Mac) or 96 ppi (Windows), but this is gone now because there are many high-res hardware that are set much higher then the 72 ppi.

    A solution to this is using vector images like svg [1]

  • Rightcar Beverley: I should imagine google analyzes websites through the whole range of resolutions and screen sizes.

  • Dave Elliott: why would google-bot care about screen res? it only cares about code surely. Okay, it will check to see if it has media queries for responsiveness but the bot doesn't see images or anything else so it doesn't analyse like that at all, it just analyses the source code.

    Unless im misunderstanding. ;
  • Mark Preston: Yes I stand corrected, Dave is right. What I was getting at was google will check to see if your site is mobile friendly. They have hinted that in the future they may penalize sites that do not render well on most size devices. As time goes on google will put more emphasis on this kind of thing.
