Do I need to have Yoast SEO Plugin ACTIVE for it to affect my SEO?

So, this is a dumb question. Do I need to have #yoastseoplugin  ACTIVE for it to affect my SEO? I was hoping that I could activate it, use it to configure my pages, then diable it, because I hate how it hogs my entire WP dashboard. I`m not seeing any of the settings I inputed into Yoast reflected in my SERPs. If the Yoast plugin needs to remain active, does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative, or how to tweak my WP dashboard? Thanks in advance!?

  • Peter Fitzer: It must stay active. You could manually add pieces of code to each page and post. But that's a major PITA. There are other SEO plugins as well. Personally though, #yoastseoplugin is my fave.
  • David Mason: Thanks +Peter Fitzer So I'm hearing that I do need it activated at all times, correct? Thanks!
  • David Mason: Yep. seoyoast needs to be active...Thanks, guys!
  • Jim Munro: I don't have any WP sites personally but I've never heard a bad thing said about Yoast, David. :)
